Pulmonary artery banding (PAB) has evolved from a historic, non-specific palliative measure to a highly sophisticated, hemodynamically engineered intervention. This article delineates the advanced fluid dynamics, classical mechanics, and mathematical governing equations underlying the operation of a physical constriction within the main pulmonary trunk. We present a novel, future-oriented classification system for PAB based on multi-scale hydrodynamic intent and spatial dynamics. Using the principles of the Navier-Stokes equations, convective acceleration, and energy conservation, we define the criteria for determining ideal band dimensions, optimizing timing for surgical revision, and calculating therapeutic efficiency across distinct clinical phenotypes.
