Verses from the Heart
A different rhythm of the heart.
When not in the operating room, I find solace in words. This space is a glimpse into my literary side—poems, reflections, and musings that speak from the heart.
Soul O Undaunted

When the world outside is cold and grey
And every voice whispers "turn away
You stand alone, a beacon bright
Refusing to yield to the dark of night
The winds of doubt and fear assail
But you dig deep, your spirit without fail
You draw on inner strength and might
And push forward, through the darkest night
The world may mock, may scorn, and deride
But you keep moving, with heart full of pride
You know your truth, your purpose, and your goal
And nothing can stop you, no matter the role
So let the haters hate, let the doubters doubt
You will rise above, your spirit unbound
You will keep on walking, through the stormy night
And emerge victorious, in the morning light.

Immortal

The morning sky missed the sun
Flowers giggled – He is in love
The evening sky was bereft of Moon
Stars blushed –He is in love
The Ocean surface looked so still
Beach winked – He is in love
The little Birdie in nest was day dreaming
Trees joked –He is in love
The peacock stood drenched in rain
Rainbow sang – He is in love
The wind stood still in heavens
Fragrance danced – He is in love
World was deaf to what the heart said
Music gleamed - He is in love
Heart never cared to what the head said
Truth screamed – He is in love
Head was mortal and the heart immortal
Her eyes glittered, cheeks blushed, and lips bloomed
Was there a spring in each step?
Alleys echoed their thoughts; breeze of peace graced the valleys,
Waves of hope hugged the shores of happiness,
That was Bliss a million years could behold-
There is too much of beauty in nature for my little heart to hold to.

RAINBOW OF LIFE

Morning as I walked down the garden – a thought bloomed in my heart -
O! Flowers where did you get your colors from?
They smiled and said “from the butterflies “! For sure -
O! Butterflies where did you get your colors from?
They smiled and said “from the flowers”!
The gentle breeze blew as fragrance sang - “they are in love”.
When the moonlight embraced my dreams-
I asked – O! Moon where did you get your soothing light?
Moon said – “from the stars “for sure -
I looked at the stars - is this true?
Star winked as it said – that is the truth!
All the little stars twinkled as they sang – “they are in love”.
The little bird did feel my pulse, as both raced along,
My little heart did miss a beat as I walked along,
The rain of faith drenched my doubts –
O! Man where did God come from?
From a human who was drenched in love- the rain pitter pattered -
I did not see the lightning flash nor did I hear the thunder roar-
I was deaf and blind in the warmth of love-
I did see the arrow of life quiver past- Archer was nowhere to be seen.
Wisdom lies in being a witness –
The dawn of peace had a rainbow of life, with colors of love!

Sanctum Santorum

In twilight's hush, where shadows play,
A sacred chamber beats within the breast,
The heart, a temple, venerable and grey,
Where ancient wisdom whispers,Find thy rest.
As Vedic seers of old did contemplate,
The hearts lotus, with petals twelve,
Unfurls to reveal the Self's estate,
A microcosm of the universes swell.
Within its depths, a spark divine does glow,
The Atman, witness to lifes ebb and flow,
A flame that flickers, yet forever bright,
Guiding us through darkness and light.
Where Bhaktis love and Jnana's wisdom meet,
The hearts dual chambers beat as one,
In harmony, the cosmos rhythm sweet,
Echoes the Upanishads sacred tone.
In this sanctum, where emotions surge,
The hearts intelligence, a hidden merge,
Of reason, intuition, and love&s pure fire,
Illuminates the path to the Highest Desire.
As I wander, lost in natures charm,
I find the hearts affinity with alarm,
For in its depths, a world of truth does lie,
A reflection of the cosmic sigh.
So let us cherish this sacred space,
The hearts domain, where love and wisdom entwine,
And as the Vedic sages did proclaim,
May our hearts be pure, and our souls regain.
Their ancient wisdom , Aham Brahmasmi,
I am the Universe, echoes within,
A reminder of the hearts cosmic tie,
A bond that binds us to the Infinites kin.
In this stillness, may our hearts unfold,
Petals of love, compassion, and gold,
And as the hearts lotus blooms anew,
May its beauty, wisdom, and love shine through.

LIFE AND DEATH IN LOVE

Did I love somebody-?
Like sunlight to this planet blue,
Did I love somebody-?
Like moonlight to a night so dark,
Did I love somebody-?
Like a river darting across the forest’s heart,
Did I love somebody-?
Like a birdie’s song in twilight,
Did I love somebody-?
Like a gentle morning breeze,
Did I love somebody-?
Like a rainbow after a thunderstorm,
Did I love somebody-?
Like the fragrance of a flower in bloom,
Did I love somebody-?
Like the dew drops on a blade of grass,
Did I love somebody-?
Like the nectar in a flowers bosom,
Did I love somebody-?
Like nothing mattered to me anymore,
Did I love somebody-?
Like each beat of a joyful heart,
Did I love somebody-?
Like an innocent infant’s smile,
Did I love somebody-?
Like the flame of lamp in stillness,
Did I love somebody-?
Like the very breath of my life,
Did I love somebody-?
Like life never ended with death!
Was it bliss to see life and death in love?
Somebody said “love is divine”

Ode to Prof. Venugopal

In hallowed halls of healing, where skillful hands do strive,
A master of the scalpel, with heart and soul alive,
Didst thou, great surgeon, pioneer the transplant's might,
And give new life to those whose hearts had lost their light.
Thy name, etched in the annals of medical lore,
Shall echo forth, as one who dared to explore,
The uncharted realms of cardiac surgery's art,
And brought hope to the afflicted, ailing heart.
A taskmaster, thou, to students under thy guide,
Diligent in patient care, with compassion's tide,
Thou didst impart thy wisdom, honed through years of toil,
And shaped the minds of future healers, with thy gentle soil.
Thy eyes, like lanterns bright, shining with intent,
Didst scan the operating theater, where life and death were bent,
Thy hands, like instruments divine, moved with precision fine,
As thou didst weave the tapestry of life, thread by thread, in twine.
The first transplant, a milestone achieved,
A testament to thy skill, and courage conceived,
Didst open doors to new possibilities, unsealed,
And gave the gift of life, to those whose hearts had failed.
But little known, perhaps, to those who praise thy name,
Is thy deep love for students, and their future's flame,
Thou nurturedst their minds, with patience, care, and might,
And guided them to become the healers of tomorrow's light.
Thy legacy lives on, a beacon in the night,
Guiding future generations, to excel in thy light,
And though thou may'st have left this mortal stage,
Thy impact on the world, forever shall engage.
Thus let us honor thee, great surgeon of the heart,
A visionary leader, who didst play thy part,
In shaping the landscape of medical history's page,
And leaving an indelible mark, on the hearts thou didst engage.
But little known, perhaps, to those who praise thy name,
Is thy deep love for students, and their future's flame,
Thou nurturedst their minds, with patience, care, and might,
And guided them to become the healers of tomorrow's light.
