About Prof Dr Pradeep Kumar Radhakrishnan
He completed MCh at AIIMS and is the country's first Postdoctoral Fellow in CTVS from SCTIMST. He is also a postdoctoral fellow in ECMO. He is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology and Fellow of Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons.Started his career in cardiac surgery at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Cardiac Surgery Puttaparthi India and has now over over 12,500 cardiac surgeries to his credit. He was the Co-coordinator of cardiac surgery and Senior Consultant at KIMS Trivandrum from 2001-2013. Live workshops on cardiac redo and congenital surgeries with international collaboration was organized during this period. He was the lead member of the team that pioneered first awake beating heart and awake adult congenital surgeries in the state and first successful use of ECMO in the state. Subsequently he has served as Visiting Professor and Senior Consultant at Travancore Heart Institute and Medical College, SUT Pattom, SUT Royal and PRS Group of Hospitals in Trivandrum. He was working as Senior Consultant at AHRI prior to taking over as Professor and head of division of cardiothoracic surgery at GIMSR Gitam University in AP. He had higher training as Visitor Physician at Mayo Clinic USA and International observer at Boston Children Hospital USA. He has honors in transplantation from University of Leiden and South Africa. He was also a member of the first AIIMS team that pioneered in MCS support and active member of heart transplantation and ECMO teams. Active areas of research include Total Artificial Heart,Arrhythmia prediction devices,leadless battery-less MRI compatible pacemakers, nano particle therapy,dry energy forms of treatment,zero gravity cardiac surgery interventions, AI enabled devices and instrumentation, VR platforms for surgery, computational fluid dynamics ,cardiac genomics ,stem cell therapy and active design development of surgical simulation models
